About Me

Andrea Wiessner

I qualified as a doctor in 1989 in Germany. I worked in conventional medicine for 8 years, first in hospital medicine and later as a GP. I undertook part of my GP training in the UK. Whilst working in this conventional environment, I became more and more dissatisfied with the fact that I was usually only treating symptoms, but not really dealing with the underlying cause of the ill-health of an individual person. Patients were returning with similar problems over and over again and I was starting to look at other ways of dealing with health and disease. Having become more aware of the connection of mind, body and spirit, I wanted to look more at the person as a whole. I also wanted to find ways to strengthen the general health and vitality of my patients in order to prevent illness and disease. Having become more aware of our spiritual dimension and of more subtle energies within our universe, I became more open to the more subtle ways of healing.

I began studying homoeopathy in 1993 and it has been my passion ever since. I received my specialist designation in Homoeopathy in Germany in 1997 and started to work as a full-time homoeopathic doctor in 1998 at the Royal London Homoeopathic Hospital (RLHH). I gained membership of the Faculty of Homeopathy in 1999 and have been on the specialist register of the Faculty since 2003. I am also involved in teaching Homoeopathy.

One of my special interests is treating children and the family as a whole. This interest led me to Craniosacral Therapy which, having experienced it as a patient myself, intrigued me. I trained for 2 years at the College of Craniosacral Therapy in London and qualified in 2006. I have incorporated this therapy form into my work at the RLHH and I also run a mother and baby clinic. I am registered with the Craniosacral Therapy Association of the UK.

I have been in private practice since 2001, mostly using Homoeopathy but now also offering Craniosacral Therapy. Having been medically trained however, I am not opposed to conventional medicine. When used appropriately, it has so much to offer. I think it is ideal to use the best of both worlds and complementary medicine can be used alongside conventional medicine. However, if it is possible, my main goal is always to strengthen the organism as a whole and to use complementary medicine. Nature has so many resources and often only needs to be stimulated appropriately.

I am registered with BUPA and AXA PPP and most health insurances provide cover for homoeopathic consultations with me. German speaking consultations are also possible.

Additional qualification: MD with thesis about the investigation of the pressure and flow in the arm veins by phlebodynamometry and ultrasound-doppler-technique at the University of Bonn, Germany.
